WHO WE ARE
Treasures is a dynamic and inspirational, survivor-led, faith-based non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, CA. We are dedicated to empowering women who have been exploited and trafficked through the commercial sex industry to live healthy, flourishing lives. Our goal is to raise $750,000 in order to purchase a residential property in the San Fernando Valley (the Adult Industry Capital of the World).
THE PROBLEM
Due to the confidential and sensitive nature of our work, it is necessary to have a safe space to provide support to women fighting to heal and rebuild their lives. Twice now, we have been able to secure affordable rentals by choosing locations that need a lot of renovation. In exchange for a reduced rent, we have renovated these spaces, transforming them into beautiful environments that reflect the value of the women we serve. We are once again in a position where our 5-year lease is up and the owner of the building is no longer willing to extend our lease. In May, they will be doubling our rent to market value ($4,000 for 1800 sq ft), knowing that they can find another tenant to pay a higher amount thanks to all of the improvements we made.
